Spring dory course

Spaces are still available in The Dory Shop’s spring boat building class, taking place in Lunenburg May 10-21.

Join Jay and up to six folks as together you build a traditional Banks dory in our historic waterfront workshop. .

Outside, the boatyard gang will be working away on our twin 48’ schooners, so there will be lots of opportunity to see and learn about large-scale wooden boatbuilding as well.

Plus, we hope to fit in some field trips to other marine artisans such as sailmakers. We value the input of those who have taken past classes and are always aiming to improve the overall experience. To that end, this spring the course will include not only breaktime snacks and a fun launch ceremony but hearty daily lunches at an historic inn just two minutes walk from the shop.

The dory class is designed for those with some woodworking skills. You needn’t be a cabinet maker but should be familiar with basic hand tools. All tools used in construction are provided.
