Progress continues
The guys are making great progress on their dory. They spent much of yesterday fitting and installing that definitive feature of a Lunenburg dory – the frames, known as knees. We also took a few minutes to head up the street to RB Stevens-North Sails Atlantic where Tara and Jennifer gave us a tour of this 100-year-old sailloft.
This morning the chief engineer of Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador, the schooner Bluenose II, popped in for a visit. He grew up in Newfoundland and spent his youth fishing in a dory. This afternoon everyone’s invited for a tour of this amazing ship.
Meanwhile, the gunwales are on and the cappings will go next. After that there are thwarts to be cut. We’re on schedule for a Saturday launch.
