Happy Birthday Dory Plug

In honour (or should that be horror?) of Dory Plug’s 40th birthday, her mom dug up this old photograph of she and her sister Sandi as they appeared in the Nova Scotia Fisheries Exhibition and Fishermen’s Reunion Children’s Parade, circa 1978.

Dory Plug’s dad Chris built this miniature dory a year earlier, at which time the girls appeared as the ’first’ International Women’s Dory Champions. It turned out they were just ahead of their time!

In this entry, titled International Friendship, Dory Plug appears as Gloucester’s Man at the Wheel, while Sandi is Lunenburg’s Doryman. The float won a prize but Dory Plug was most excited about the free hotdog provided to all participants at the Lunenburg Jaycees’ Canteen.
