Welcoming visitors and neighbours
We think of The Dory Shop as a pretty welcoming place. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't drop in to say hi and come tourist season, the numbers of visitors can sometimes create challenges. But that's rare and hey, we really do love to share this place.
The funny thing about Lunenburgers though, and do know it's a Lunenburger who writes this, is that they generally hate the idea of bothering anyone. This has been particularly evident since the advent of the Twin Schooner Project out in the boatyard.
Certainly lots of people have dropped by to see what we are doing and check things out. But for every person who does, I'll bet there are five more who won't stop by until evening or the weekend so they can look without disturbing the building gang.
Knowing this, we've made a particular point of organizing events so that locals can come by to comfortably, and safely, view all of the exciting things going on here - from production of gorgeous big Seine dories and schooners to boat building classes, Hump Cup racing and more.
Last evening, we welcomed members of the Lunenburg Board of Trade. It was a beautiful evening and a great turnout. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!
